Almost Graduating
I can't believe I'm almost done! 5 years of schooling... I honestly don't know how I got through it haha. Not sure if it's because I'm almost about to join the working society, but I feel like I've recently had a shift in mentality. I have recently been watching tons of finance-related videos, reading finance-related books, and starting to consider retirement.
I know what you're thinking... retirement? You haven't even started. As someone who is starting many years later and playing the catchup game as a 30-year-old new grad, I feel like I need to start considering these things and I believe it will help me in attaining my goal of financial independence.
Speaking of which, I recently mentioned my goal of retiring in my 40s as a goal to a close friend and he expressed his doubts regarding the likelihood of that happening. Totally understandable from his perspective. However, I believe the first thing to achieving financial independence is to have a mindset of "I plan on" or "I can/will" rather than "I most likely" or "I could". I guess we'll find out who was right or wrong in the future haha.
The first book I started reading on my journey to financial independence is "The Simple Path to Wealth" by J.L. Collins. Although I'm less than halfway done, I can honestly say that I've gained a ton of knowledge that I can apply to my future plans! Collins explains some very useful and simple concepts that I wish I knew 10 years earlier.
This has been a longer than usual post due to it being so long since I last posted and I just have a lot more thoughts on my mind. Hopefully, I can continue posting more frequently.
